The tastiest fish is the one you have caught yourself and we can vouch for that. Down here at River Cottage the team have mixed fishing abilities ranging from beginner to hardened all weather sea dog! Recently we have found the perfect rods so we thought we would make them available to you too. Both practical and easy to use, they are telescopic for easy storage and transport.

The Spinning Rod we use is a 9 foot telescopic Red Wolf with a casting weight of 30g and comes complete with a Tempest 340 fishing reel and includes fishing line.

The reel has 3 ball bearings and has high speed retrieve, a precision multi drag system, an oversized anti - twist line roller and comes with a spare graphite spool.

The rod comes with a protector for the rod eyes and whilst under 2ft collapsed extends to 9ft.

These bottles are the same style bottles that we used in the TV series River Cottage Spring to bottle our Elderflower champagne.

The bottles are 500ml and have a classic swing stop lid and come in multiples of six.

These bottles are available in either clear or frosted.

Stocks are fairly limited as following the show the popularity has rocketed.

This Prawn net is efficient and handy.  It collapses down and is self securing with it's own hooks to make it easy to carry and store flat.  Once sprung back out to it's full size it is just over 60cm long and 32cm in diameter.

It has an aperture at each end which your catch will crawl in to but will be uanble to escape from. Simply place your bait in the zipped pocket and lower the net to your chosen fishing spot.

Your catch can be easily retrieved through the zip pocket and then all you've got to worry about is how to cook it! For that you'll be able to find loads of recipes in the award winning River Cottage Fish Book!

This stainless steel heavy duty potato ricer takes the elbow grease out of mashing and makes perfect fluffy creamed potato every time.  

In the TV series, River Cottage Spring, Hugh used his ricer for crushing the crayfish to make the stock, but it also has many other uses such as a juice press!  So easy to use and fantastic results.

We've said it many times before, just about all of us at River Cottage love fish and fishing and there's nothing quite like catching it yourself and then taking it home and cooking it. Perhaps the only thing that can beat that is cooking your catch in a special way right then and there!

		Well we've discovered the perfect way of doing that. A fishing bag full of lots of fishing goodies including a telescopic rod, a crayfish net and a portable fish smoker!
The fishing bag or satchel has been locally handmade by our friend Rosie and has a wide shoulder strap, making it easy to carry that heavy load of fish. It has a fold over flap that secures with two metallic poppers and a handstiched picture of a mackerel on the flap.
	The crayfish net is cleverly designed with a zip pocket to put bait in, a zip to stow the securing line and clips to hold it flat for ease of storage in the bag. When in use the net measures about 500mm long and has apertures measuring 80mm diameter at each end to let the crayfish in. You need a licence to set a crayfish trap, for more information click here.

Last but not least the fascinating fish smoker. This folds into a manageable tin which is also part of the smoker itself. It comes complete with a pot to hold your combustable material, a griddle tray and handle. We've even thrown in a 1kg bag of oak sawdust! The smoker of course comes complete with instructions and we'll include a River Cottage recipe for smoked mackerel.   The internal dimensions of the smoker are 30cm long x 18.5cm wide x 6cm deep

The sawdust is a mixture of oak and beech.

Both of our kitchens at Park Farm and at the Axminster Canteen use these beautiful beech chopping boards.

These boards are made locally by our friend Mike and customers on events often asked if they were available to buy!

The boards are all made from English Beech and handcrafted in Mike's Chideock workshop.

We have three types of boards available, two sizes of the smooth edged beech chopping boards and the popular rough edged rustic look chopping board.   We use them both for presentation and for chopping on. The small chopping board is ideal for canapes and the larger board is ideal for bread. The smaller smooth edged chopping board measures approximately 23cm x 16cm whilst the larger is approximately 38cm x 23cm. They have cut outs at each end to make carrying easier.

The rough edged chopping boards are ideal for presentation of food when you are looking for that rustic look and are sturdy enough to use as a cutting surface.  The dimensions are approximately 40cm by 25cm although as they are made with rustic edgings these do vary slightly.  The boards have cut out handles at each end to make it easy to use as a tray or presentation.

Please note that to achieve this look two pieces of wood are joined and glued together, we therefore recommend that they are not cleaned in a dishwasher.

This fantastic accessory case comes complete with a range of knives and tools that every fisherman will find useful!

The kit includes:

Large filleting knife with a 8 inch blade with an overall length of 13 inches to the end of the re-enforced handle;

This two piece Ron Thompson rod comes in it’s own soft carrying case.  It has a cork handle and has a casting weight up to 60 grams. This rod is lightweight and can be used on the riverbank, the side of a pond or lake or equally in the sea!  The rod comes with a Cardinal Abu Garcia reel giving it great balance.  The reel itself comes with a spare spool and has a gear ratio of 5.11.  The line capacity is 210 yards (not supplied), five ball bearings, instant anti reverse, an adjustable rear drag system, double handle.
