Planning your Christmas Party?

As the Christmas season is fast approaching us, we thought we would let you know about our range of private and original events to celebrate Christmas with your friends, family or with your clients or colleagues to your own specification.

Private Farmhouse Dinner

If you are looking to treat colleagues, or organise a get together for friends and family this Christmas we can accommodate up to 17 in the dining room of our 17th Century farmhouse.

Guests are met at the top car park by one of our front of house team and taken in a tractor and converted trailer down the hill. Your party then gather around the fire for a seasonal winter cocktail and homemade canapés.

This is followed by a festive four or five course set menu, featuring produce from our own River Cottage garden, and seasonal ingredients from the very best West Country producers. Local fish may well feature on the menu, along with goose or duck or perhaps a special cut from one of our organically reared Saddleback pigs. Parsnips, salsify and Brussels sprouts will all be thriving in the River Cottage garden and will of course feature. It wouldn't be Christmas without some rich and decadent desserts: Pears in spiced rosehip syrup perhaps, or a gooey chocolate chestnut truffle cake.

For a limited time only we are offering to waive the £150 facility fee to River Cottage Members. This offer applies to dates up until 31st December 2008.  

Barn events & dinners 

If you are part of a larger team, we can also accommodate groups of up to 64 guests in our beautifully restored threshing barn. Whether you want to treat your team with a festive evening of seasonal dining, or if you would like a Christmas dinner cookery demonstration included then we can offer you a uniquely atmospheric venue. We would collect you in the tractor trailer as before, and you will receive a warm welcome from the River Cottage team with a seasonal warming drink and homemade canapés, before a seasonal supper is served.

  Hugh Cooks Christmas

If you are a large group and are looking for the ultimate River Cottage festive experience, we have one date available for a private Hugh Cooks Christmas in December.

With his commitment to seasonality, Hugh likes to leave his decision about the precise menu to the last minute, but you can be sure there will be no Christmas clichés. Turkey was banished from Hugh’s festive table some time ago. A goose or duck or perhaps a special cut from one of Hugh's own Devon Ruby cattle are much more likely to feature on the menu. There will be lots of ideas for cooking seasonal vegetables.

The River Cottage chefs will then prepare your guests a five course set menu, featuring produce from our own River Cottage garden, and seasonal ingredients from the very best West Country producers.

This event will take place in our renovated barn and is suitable for groups of up to 64 guests. 

  Local Produce Store & Canteen

Local Produce Store and Canteen, Axminster The River Cottage Canteen is now taking group bookings for Christmas. Located in Axminster behind our Local Food Store, the Canteen can accommodate groups from 6 to 66 for evening meals in a relaxed, informal setting.

Our Head Chef Tim Maddams has devised a number of fantastic seasonal menus for groups in December, featuring the very best South West produce from our favorite local farms. The Canteen offers you a lively, fun evening coupled with seriously delicious food.

  New Years Eve
