On Sunday 5th October, I'll be hosting the first ever River Cottage Duck Fair, here at River Cottage HQ.
I’m hoping this event will fill you with duck ideas, from keeping your own ducks, to giving you some inspiring seasonal duck recipes, created by myself and the River Cottage HQ kitchen team. There will also be some duck themed entertainment!
There will be some familiar River Cottage faces, including Pammy & Richie Riggs, our poultry experts who will be demonstrating the evisceration of the duck. John Wright our mushroom expert will also be here, and Pam Corbin our preserving expert will be running a Jam Clinic, so please come armed with any preserving queries you’d like help with.
The “Bring and Barter Produce Exchange Tent” was such a success at the Spring Fair that we’ve decided to give it another whirl - this time for all your autumn produce. We'd like you take part by bringing a box of your own home grown or home made goodies along for the day. These will all be put towards the Produce Exchange, where you can swap your produce for someone else's, or make an offer for anything that takes your fancy.
We would also like to invite children to enter a competition to create their own duck collage – ideally using recycled materials from the kitchen or garden. The entries will be judged by me and the team, and the winner will be announced towards the end of the day.
There’ll be loads of food for you to taste and buy – including hot food to eat on site, and other goodies for you to take home. Don’t be surprised if duck turns up on the menu….
There’ll be plenty of organic beer and cider, and we’ve got some great live music for you too.

Entrance for the day is just £12 per adult, and children under 12 (up to 2 per adult) are completely free. The number of tickets will be limited, so please book early! I'm really hoping to see you there.
